Motivation Monday

how was everyone's weekend? mine was extremely low-key. it started with a bbq in brooklyn, catching up on some sleep and hanging with friends. it was just the right mix of feeling productive without feeling like i was a total bum. i especially wanted to have some downtime as work is really picking back up again, and a challenge i have working for myself is trying not to spend every minute of my time working. i have to remember that it's important to have some downtime, and not over exert myself. and more than anything, make sure i'm not feeling guilty 24/7 for not working 24/7. in my case, since i don't have any employees, it's a scenario where if i don't do the work, then it doesn't get done. it's a fine line to walk when you're carrying your whole business on your shoulders.

so on weekends, unless the work or emails are extremely urgent, i make an effort to handle what needs to get done on monday. because honestly, in most cases, it can wait until monday. since launching my pr agency in early 2012, there have only been a handful of cases when something needed to be handled asap on the weekend. and so now that it's monday, it's time to hunker down because it's looking like a really busy week. hope you all make your weekly goals, whether it's securing new business, having a kick-ass client meeting, asking (and securing) a raise or even move forward with your own dreams of entrepreneurism. happy monday!

Motivation Monday

happy monday kandids! hoping you all had a great weekend, and will have an even better start to the week. i can't believe that we're already gearing up for this year's 4th quarter. it came out of nowhere. so far this year, i've already surpassed my self-employment income compared to last year. pretty impressive i think since i've been in business about 18 months, woo hoo! can't wait to see what the next few months will bring!

i saw the above quote from keira knightly this morning and i couldn't agree more with her. how do you determine your own level of success?

Motivation Monday

happy monday kandids! i hope everyone had a good weekend. mine definitely had its moments of ups and downs. like most people, there are challenges we have to face constantly in both our professional and personal lives. i'm dealing with challenges in both, but i always know that these problems will be solved. i just keep reminding myself to keep looking ahead.

i know i'm not the only one seeking words of encouragement, so i wanted to share one of my favorite movie quotes (from the dark knight) that i think can apply to most difficulties we experience. just remember, it's a brand new day, a brand new week, and in just a few days, it'll be a brand new month. changes are always around the corner.

"The night is darkest just before the dawn. And I promise you, the dawn is coming."

All That Glitters

this week is looking crazy business! in addition to still working on the drinkware and having recently signed on a new client for my pr business, i've been called in for jury duty tomorrow, blah! on a cheerier note, my mom loved her christian louboutin shoes. ooohhh, shiny!

so on that note, with a busy monday ahead for all of us, here's a motivational quote from mellody hobson. not only is the woman a financial guru breaking gender and racial barriers in her industry, but she also snagged george lucas (the two recently wed in a dreamy affair). clearly, she's doing something right.

DVF Wisdom

i hope everyone had a great 4th of july! the weather gods must have been smiling down because instead of constant rain, we got tons of sunshine, perfect for outdoor gatherings. but as usual, we're back to kicking off another week, and mondays always seem tougher when following a 3- or 4-day weekend.

to help get you motivated through the day, i'm sharing a special quote from diane von furstenberg. i'm always more partial to getting motivation from female entrepeneurs, and there aren't many who are more influential than dvf. let's be productive kandids!

Bitches Get Stuff Done

happy monday all! welcome to the glorious month of july! can you believe how quickly the summer is flying by? but i love july. not only because we get to celebrate the 4th (bbq's, fireworks, family get-togethers - what else do you need?), but it's also my mom's birthday month. i can't wait to be home to celebrate with her.

and since the holiday isn't until later this week, that means plenty of us are still working this week, so here's some motivational mojo from one of my favorite funny women, tina fey, to help you power through the next few days.

“Maybe what bothers me the most is that people say that Hillary is a bitch. Let me say something about that: Yeah, she is. And so am I and so is this one. (Points to Amy Poehler) Know what? Bitches get stuff done!”
